Rachel Canterbury

As a postpartum doula, Rachel loves helping to cradle a warm and inviting restful space for new mothers in the very important “fourth trimester”. She is there to help provide knowledge, and build the confidence of new parents offering assistance with breastfeeding, babywearing, normal infant sleep, providing trusted referrals, and any other things new parents might need guidance in or assistance in doing. Her personal goal as a postpartum doula is to work herself out of the job, leaving the family so confident and self assured in their abilities, that they no longer need her. She has day and night availability, because she realizes that baby, and parent sleep are equally vital. Rachel follows the biodynamic model of care for postpartum work, in an effort to maximize positive postpartum outcomes for families while using evidence based information.

Rachel’s passions beyond birth include enjoying a night at home with her partner Kyle, brewing a strong cup of coffee, or being out for a solo hike in the Portland Metro area. Rachel is a lover of animals, and enjoys horseback riding, and playing with her pet rabbit Gizmo. Rachel also has an interest in flower essences, micro-housing solutions, aquaponics, and handwork.
