Hi there! I’m excited to be living a dream of mine to support other women in labor as a doula. My fascination with birth began over ten years ago, and it’s only grown since I’ve given birth to my own children. I became a certified doula in 2016, and I’m passionate about serving and supporting women and their families through the experience of welcoming a new baby into their lives. The process of labor and birth can take many twists and turns, but I believe staying educated, informed, and creating the best environment possible can help you have the birth experience and outcome you desire.
The birth of my first child was in a hospital, the birth of my second was a waterbirth in a freestanding birth center, and the birth of my third was a planned homebirth. All were positive experiences which I attribute to healthy pregnancies, educating myself about labor and birth, and having a doula by my side. Having the continuous support of a doula during my labors showed me that they truly do make a difference. Before my first birth, my husband didn’t understand the role of a doula and wasn’t sure why I wanted one. After my birth he raved about how amazing she was, and he vowed never to go through another labor and birth without a doula!
While originally from the Seattle area, I have lived just outside Portland for about a decade, and I love it here. I enjoy teaching, and I’m a former elementary school teacher, however, I currently substitute teach part time so I can pursue my other passions which are pregnancy and birth work, and being a mom to our three children. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, camping, running, Pilates, digital scrapbooking, and adventures with my family.
