Hi there! My fascination with birth began several years ago, and it’s only grown since I’ve given birth to my own children. The process of labor and birth can take many twists and turns, but I believe staying educated, informed, and creating the best environment possible for your birth can help you have the birth experience and outcome you desire! The birth of my first son was in a hospital, and the birth of my second was a waterbirth in a freestanding birth center. Both were overall positive experiences which I attribute to a healthy pregnancy, educating myself about labor and birth, and having a doula by my side. Having the continuous support of a doula during my labors showed me that they truly do make a difference. Before my first birth, my husband didn’t understand the role of a doula and wasn’t sure why I wanted one. After my birth he raved about how amazing she was, and he vowed never to go through another labor and birth without a doula!

While originally from the Seattle area, I have lived just outside Portland for about a decade, and I love it here! I enjoy teaching, and I’m a former elementary school teacher, however, I currently substitute teach part time so I can pursue my other passions which are pregnancy and birth work, and being a mom to our two young boys. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, camping, running, Pilates, digital scrapbooking, and adventures with my family.

After a complementary interview, my doula services include:

  • 1-2 prenatal visits
  • Available by phone and e-mail throughout your pregnancy
  • On call two weeks before your estimated due date until the birth of your baby
  • Continuous labor support
  • 1 postpartum visit, including breastfeeding support if needed
  • Phone and e-mail support for up to six weeks after birth
  • Basic photography of labor and/or birth with your camera (if desired)

Finding a doula that you are comfortable with is extremely important. If you think that doula may be me, I look forward to meeting you!
