Christa Billings

Christa Billings-Greater Portland Area-

I have been working professionally in the world of birth since October 2009. I am very active in the birth community and participate in a variety of birth related organizations. I serve as the Northwest Regional Coordinator for ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network). I am also the chapter leader for ICAN of Portland.

I participate and present at birth related functions, including legislative activism. I can continue to remain up to date on current birth practices and evidence based research that will support my doula clients. I attend meetings, write letters & speak at legislative functions in regards to midwifery care or any legislative matter that affect the rights of a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean) mother.

I hope as a doula to educate women about birth and the ability to advocate for themselves before, during and after the birth process. I will provide you with physical, emotional and informational support throughout your pregnancy and after the birth.

I am a mother myself. I have given birth to three wonderful daughters. The birth of each of my daughters is what led me to my passion for birth and helping mothers achieve the birth they desire. My first daughter was born via a cesarean due to breech presentation. My second daughter was an attempted hospital VBAC that ended in another cesarean due to malpositioning and fetal distress. My third daughter was a beautiful VBA2C (Vaginal Birth After 2 Cesareans) born at home in the water in my bedroom. I feel that my own variety of birth experiences will help me have a true understanding for most women and the feelings they may have about the types of birth they desire to have.

My specialties are VBAC, Cesareans & Cesarean recovery, however all types are births are important to me.
